BIO: Ashlyn and her younger brother, Bryan, were abandoned by their father after the murder of their mother. It was a classic robbery gone wrong. Her father had been working the night shift as a security guard at the local hospital when the robbers broke into their house. Terrified about the noise, and not finding his mother in her bed, Bryan had come into Ashlyn’s room. Together they hid in the closet until a police officer found them. At trial, the men testified that stabbing her mother was self defense, since she had come at one of them with the butcher knife. Not able to cope with his sudden loss, or the new-found responsibility of taking care of kids, turned both Ashlyn and Bryan over to the state foster care system.
Growing up in the system proved to be tougher than either of them thought. Some of the kids were violent and the grown-ups didn’t seem to care. They grew to depend on, and looked out for each other. Then they both got placed with a decent family, the Fischers. Ashlyn knew they probably just wanted Bryan, but since she rarely caused problems they agreed to take her in also. And now she found herself in another new home, going to another new school.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: Ashleigh sucked in a breath…was Karen threatening her just to get to Josh? Surely the soul wouldn’t be saying those kind of things, not while they were in a motel surrounded by other souls, and even worse…seekers. She stared at Karen, her mouth open in absolute shock, until Josh stepped in front of her blocking her view. Ash tried to grab the back of his shirt, anything really to keep him grounded and safe. Confronting the unstable soul wasn’t the thing to so, there was no telling what she would do! But she knew Josh would do anything and everything he could to keep her safe, he had always been that way with the ones he cared about.
She saw his body tense, and the reactions from the others in room told her that something was definitely going wrong. Faith was saying to put something down, and Ash stepped to the side to look around Josh. Her eyes went wide with both shock and fear! How had Karen gotten a gun without them knowing. The she realized the soul was pointing the thing at Josh. And he was still going on about things, Josh never had been able to keep things inside when he was angry. Before she knew it everything happened so fast!
Josh moved quickly, like she remembered from his basketball days, towards Karen. He was going to try to stop her or get the weapon away, she just knew it. Putting himself in danger with the unstable, fiery soul. “Josh…” Then the shots came Ash’s voice was an echo to Faith’s “No!” And then it seemed like everything slowed down for her and was in slow motion.
First, Josh went completely still and then the sound of glass shattering…Karen had shot out the window and was gone. Suddenly Josh was falling to his knees, and Ash rushed forward, getting to him as he collapsed onto the floor. She barely heard Faith’s words as she was immediately drawn to the wound on his chest. “Josh, baby? Oh God…” Faith had put her hand on his chest, putting pressure to stop the bleeding. Ash couldn’t think… nothing else mattered at that moment then him, not the souls, not the seekers. Tears were streaming down her face, then she remembered.. “Cassie! You’ve got to do something! Now! Please!.” She touched him, couldn’t help it, Ash placed her hands on his cheeks, looking into his eyes. “Please…stay with me, HyunSang.”
